Cook'd ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

When you use Cook'd, we collect the following information:

• Account Information: Your name, email address, password, and username when you create an account. A unique user ID is assigned to your account to identify it within the app.
• Profile Information: Profile photo and bio that you choose to add.
• User Content: Recipes, posts, photos, comments, likes, saved recipe lists, and any other content you create or import within the app.
• Search History: Searches you perform within the app, including queries used for AI recipe generation and in-app recipe search.
• Contacts: With your permission, we access your device contacts solely to help you find friends who are already on Cook'd. Contact data is not stored on our servers.
• Device Information: Device tokens for push notifications.
• Analytics and Usage Data: We use PostHog to track how you use the app — including posting, editing and saving recipes, importing recipes, commenting, using the grocery list and Instacart hand-off, generating AI recipe suggestions, and visiting the Discover tab. This data is linked to your account via your unique user ID; it is not anonymous. We stop associating new activity with your account when you sign out.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain the Cook'd app and its features.
• Enable social features such as following users, liking reviews, and commenting.
• Generate AI-powered recipe suggestions based on your search queries.
• Screen posts, comments, profile photos, and other submitted content — including images — for prohibited material such as nudity, profanity, and hate speech before it is shared with other users.
• Send push notifications about activity on your account (likes, comments, follows).
• Improve and personalize your experience.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

• Firebase (Google): Authentication, data storage, file storage, and push notifications. See Firebase Privacy Policy.
• OpenAI: Your recipe search queries are sent to OpenAI's API to generate recipe suggestions. Photos and text you submit in posts, comments, and profile updates are also sent to OpenAI to screen for prohibited content (such as nudity, profanity, and hate speech) before they are shared with other users. • PostHog: Product analytics used to understand how the app is used, linked to your account as described above. See PostHog Privacy Policy.
• Instacart: If you use the grocery ordering feature, your grocery list data is shared with Instacart to facilitate your order. See Instacart Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your personal information to any third parties.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase infrastructure. We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your information, including encrypted authentication and secure data transmission. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data: View your profile, reviews, and other content within the app.
• Update your data: Edit your profile, username, bio, and other content at any time.
• Delete your account: Permanently delete your account and all associated data through the app's settings. This action is irreversible and removes all your reviews, comments, likes, saved recipes, lists, and profile information.

Children's Privacy

Cook'd is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the updated policy within the app. Your continued use of Cook'd after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
